Process
My goal in designing a custom piece of furniture is to make it both aesthetically pleasing and functional in everyday life.
My design process begins with a conversation with my client on what type of piece is desired, and what space is available for this piece of furniture. In these preliminary discussions, my most important goal is to learn about the client’s desires for a piece.
After we arrive at a general idea, I can begin to sketch some basic designs and then take those sketches back to my studio to create a three-dimensional drawing of the project.
Once a basic design is created, we can discuss the different types of wood and various finishes that are available for the project. There are a variety of options when it comes to this step, and this is often the most exciting phase before construction begins as the designs almost come to life when clients imagine exactly what their piece will look like once it is complete.
